Our recommendations

Volnay 2007 - Christophe Vaudoisey

A lovely gentle Pinot Noir made in a traditional Burgundian manner. Bright beautiful raspberry fruit highlighted with floral (rose petal and violet) notes. Great acidity and ready to drink now.

Great with roasted salmon dishes and mushroom dishes.

And tremendous value at £23.00 (inc VAT)

Bourgogne Blanc Clos du Château - Château de Puligny Montrachet 2007

From a unique lieu-dit so named as this vineyard is entirely surrounded by a wall, it is made from two parcels- one planted in 1953 called 'vieille vigne' and one planted in 1988 - 'jeune vigne', Vinified 1/3 in stainless steel and 2/3 in oak barrels (4-6 years old) it is aged 10 months on its lees.

Elegant with great minerality, structure and body. The Chardonnay has beautiful lemony acidity , it is really a Puligny in all but name and would complement a great number of dishes from butternut squash risotto to scallops to roast chicken.

I learned my Moselle at Dr Loeb's knee. All London used to vie for invitations to his annual tastings at Charing Cross. Am I the only survivor? No; thank goodness O.W.L. sails on, standards intact”
