Château de Fuissé, Fuissé

Background
Chateau de Fuisse was purchased in 1862 and since 2003 Antoine Vincent has been the winemaker (the fifth generation in this winemaking family). His sister Bénédicte & her dutch husband Philip Tuinder (who worked with Leflaive for 10 years) maintain their grip on administration. The Domaine currently comprises of 85 acres across the appellations of Pouilly Fuisse, St Veran and Macon Villages.

Viticultural and vinification methods
With a close observance of nature, the Domaine practises integrated viticulture (a sustainable practise which promotes biological diversity in the ecosystem of the vineyard).

Grapes are handpicked and sorted and whole bunch pressed. The wines are then vinified in either barrel or stainless steel depending on their origin. Vinification is adapted to the specifics of each parcel.

Wines

Pouilly Fuissé 'Tête de Cru'from 20 different sites, all vinified separately. 70% fermented in oak (25% of which is new) and 30% in tank.

Pouilly Fuissé 'Les Combettes' From a monopole, vinified in oak (3 to 5 year old). The soil is well drained limestone with only a little clay.

Puilly Fuissé 'Vieilles Vignes' from 50 year old vines, vinified in new oak.
