The affable Denis Clair works with his son Jean-Baptiste, who seems to be having a very positive effect on the quality of the wines. These days, they have an extra degree of finesse, a little more tension, and this has perhaps increased their longevity.

Vineyards: The estate has some prime vineyards in both Saint-Aubin and Santenay, as well as a precious small parcel of 1er Cru Puligny-Montrachet.

Style: The white wine are both fleshy and mineral, whilst the two red Santenays we buy make a nice contrast: the Clos Genet is soft and juicy and could almost be drunk slightly chilled, whilst the Clos de la Comme is more structured and masculine and requires some bottle age.
